ALTRAN strives to provide service for all of Alger County. However, our county is approximately 1,000 square miles, or roughly the size of the state of Connecticut. We will do our best to meet your needs, but demographics and cost do play a factor when scheduling rides. Outlying areas require 48 hours’ notice when scheduling rides and are subject to availability.
Our hours of service are as follows:
Driving Hours
- Sunday-Saturday: 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m.
Dispatch Hours
- Monday-Friday: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 7:00 a.m. – Noon
You must call and arrange your rides through our dispatch center (906) 387-4845 Ext. 1. We have an on-call phone for after hours (906) 202-0245, the driver will try to provide immediate transportation, but standing/work appointments receive preference. Please use the on-call phone for same day cancellations after hours. Failure to provide a one-hour notice will result in a “no-show” charge. This number is not to be used to schedule future rides beyond the current day.
Fare Schedule*
Older citizens (65 and over), people with disabilities, and children under twelve are half fare; children 5 and under riding without a parent are full fare. For additional pricing in non-listed areas please contact our dispatch center.
Passenger Fare Change Notice
ALTRAN has taken the COVID-19 outbreak as an opportunity to work on some inconsistencies within our fare structure. We have done detailed research concerning our routes and compared our fare structure to other transit agencies within our state. We have restructured our fares to make our system less complex, with fares based on approximate distance traveled. Effective June 1st, 2022.
Below are the fare rates for millage paying citizens:
